When you buy flowers online, you
typically encounter the "Order
Gatherer".
ORDER
GATHERER
1. A Large Online floral
retailer -
If the floral web
site does not identify the name of the
florist fulfilling your order, then you have
entered the site of an Order Gatherer.
2. A retail florist claiming
cross-national delivery -
If the florist is located in one State and
claims to be able to deliver across the
United States, Canada and even the world,
then you have entered the site of an Order
Gatherer.
The Order Gatherer typically takes a 20%
commission for successfully capturing your
business. The order gatherer sends your
order to the next level - a wire service.
WIRE SERVICE
i.e. FTD or
Telaflora. Wire services transfer some of
the money you paid the "Order
Gatherer" to the "Florist".
The fee for this transaction is 7% of your
total purchase (in many cases, there are
additional fees that the florist must pay
the wire service).
In the typical online floral purchase, the
florist fulfilling your order must give the
"Order Gatherer" a 20% commission
and must pay the "Wire Service" an
additional 7% in order to receive a portion
of the funds that you paid (i.e. the price
you paid minus 27%). At BloomenDirect, we
believe there is a better way to buy flowers
online!
